Château de Manissy
Situated in the Rhône Valley, the neighbouring villages of TAVEL and LIRAC benefit from the favourable climate of this region : in particular the exceptional sunshine and the cleansing Mistral wind.
The main secret to our TAVEL wines is found in its arid soil, consisting of flat calcerous stones, round pebbles, and alluvial sandstone.
The yields are small giving grapes of exceptional high quality!
The CHATEAU DE MANISSY, property of the Missionaries of the Holy Family, has produced rosé wines since the beginning of the 20th Century and is well reputed for its “Tête de Cuvée”, a barrel-aged rosé. For the last few years, the talented young winemaker, Florian ANDRE has continued this traditional way of winemaking aswell as creating two other rosés, a white and several red wines.
To obtain an intense, fresh TAVEL with fruity and spicy aromas, a refined, powerful red LIRAC , or a supple and easy-to-drink COTES-DU-RHONE, the vinification methods cannot be the same.
Mainly handpicked, totally destemmed, cold maceration for some, malolactic fermentation for others, and then the little secrets which enable the winemaker to express his talent!
